Cumbrian business Sassy Property Styling Ltd celebrates 10 years

 ‘I am delighted to have reached this milestone in my business’ says Anne, ‘especially after such trying times with first Brexit and then Covid.  It was all very bit scary when Covid hit as none of us knew how things were going to go and how we were going to earn a living.’

Anne Sowerby, owner and director of Sassy Property Styling Ltd, is a driven woman on a mission to make her company the best interior design and house staging business.  And she certainly is on track to do just that.  Last year her turnover was such that she had to make Sassy Property Styling a limited company.

During Covid Anne was able to support several local businesses. “Once we got to grips with how things should work it was easy to ensure that each contractor went into a property in isolation.” 

“I am very fortunate to have a great team of small businesses that work with me from decorators, removals, blinds, carpets, furniture, designers, craftsmen, accountant, marketing and PR professionals who have all become good friends as well as work colleagues.”

Every year Anne wins at least two awards for customer service from various industry leaders like Houzz on which Anne has won year on year.  ‘It’s nice to be recognised for the support I give all my clients.  I have always put their needs at the forefront of my business strategy, because without them I have no business.’ Say’s Anne. And that’s reflected in the extensive customer reviews she receives.

Anne Sowerby is a fully trained House Doctor consultant and is a founder member of the ‘UK Home Staging Association’ and is a ‘House Wow’ associate, the only one operating in the Lake District. 


Anne has a reputation for the properties she’s staged selling within weeks, sometimes days and why estate agents love to work with her. 


With house prices on their way down in many parts of the UK what does Anne recommend to anyone wanting to sell their house today.


“First, look at what is for sale in your area and like for like properties, this will give you a clear indication on price and condition.”

 

“Then look at your property through the eyes of a prospective buyer. This is the most important aspect to keep in the forefront of your mind at all times during the process.

I always recommend decluttering every room, we simply don’t realise how much we collect and live with until we come to sell our property.  So, declutter, and that includes all the surfaces and cupboards. Then clean until everything shines and sparkles. And don’t forget about curb appeal.  Make sure your property is looking its best on the outside because a lot of prospective buys will simply drive on passed if your property is looking a mess.”


An important part of Anne’s business is furniture hire. ‘I offer this service so that clients don’t have to buy cheep furniture that will then go to landfill when the property is sold.  I have a wide selection of top-quality furniture and furnishings that a client can rent for the duration the house is on the market (which is never very long).  I reuse everything again as many times as I can before it no longer reaches my high standards when it’s then donated to a charity shop to sell on. This ensures that nothing goes into landfill.”

NEW NSPCC FUNDRAISING EVENT

 Submitted by Steve Johnston 23rd Sept 2022 A MAJOR fundraising event has been unveiled to raise vital funds for Cumbria’s NSPCC charity. The new Cumbria Fair will take place over two days on October 11-12 at The Garden At Eden, near Carlisle. Its pop-up stalls will showcase many independent Cumbrian producers plus specialist goods from all over the country. Cumbria Fair aims to build on the success of the previous Carlisle NSPCC Christmas Fair which raised many thousands of pounds for the children’s charity. The annual event had to be cancelled because of the Covid outbreak.
