- Showcase Cumbria does not charge to post and share the submissions nor does it take a cut or commission from anyone paid who has submitted the pieces. - Showcase Cumbria holds no responsibility for pieces submitted and posted, text and photos are posted on the basis that the person submitting has permission or owns the information and images. If you do feel that it isn't correct information or wrong or not theirs to post. Simply pop me an email and the said piece and I will remove.  - Showcase Cumbria is not a funded platform - it is done voluntarily during spare time between full time work and parenting so pieces that are more time-sensitive will go on first and if more than one organisation submits, then they can't follow one another and others get a chance to be posted first.  - Showcase Cumbria reserves the right not to post a submission. - Showcase Cumbria is not always monitored and not always posting. I will endeavour to do my best however to showcase submissions....

The huge moose’s head is among the most fondly-remembered artefacts from Barrow Museum’s previous home above the town’s library. Now it’ll be on display for one week only at 105 Duke Street from March 27-Apr 2 as part of a multimedia installation exploring memories of the old museum, Pass’s Department Store and The Public Hall. “It was above the door as you went in, enormous it was!" said Walney resident Margaret, one of the old museum’s regular visitors whose memories will be among the sounds in the exhibition. “As a little child, going up the stairs it was quite something!”. The PACE awards have been recognising the efforts and successes of educational establishments across the nation for over two decades. PACE is the representative body for hospitality and education, including schools, further education colleges and universities throughout the UK. Heft to represent the North of England in the Countryside Alliance Awards Grand Final

Heft won through to claim the North of England pub title, and now owners Kevin & Nicola Tickle and their team will go forward to the grand final, with the chance of adding the overall UK title to their name. The Cumbrian inn and restaurant will now compete against fellow winners from across Wales, Scotland and England to see who claims the plaudits, which will be announced at a Champions Reception held at the House of Lords, on Wednesday 17 May 2023. BARROW ARTS CHARITY WRITERS BEHIND NEW PEAKY BLINDERS GAME LAUNCH

 Submitted by Kezz Turner 14th March 2023 TWO key team members of a Barrow arts charity are the writing talent behind a new Peaky Blinders Virtual Reality game launched to critical acclaim last week (on 9th March 2023).  Signal Film and Media Co-director Kerry Kolbe took up a writing post with London-based games  company Maze Theory in 2019 alongside writing partner and Signal Film and Media’s Trustee & tutor  Karen Bird. The pair worked remotely to script the game with Maze Theory’s design team throughout  the lockdown. Released last Thursday, Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is a virtual reality adventure that’s  been widely celebrated for its authenticity - the pair’s script is approved by show creator Steven  Knight and is delivered by lead cast members Cillian Murphy, who plays enigmatic gang leader  Tommy Shelby and Paul Anderson, who plays volatile brother Arthur Shelby.
